Insurance and Refundable Holds When Renting a Car in Saudi Arabia
A practical explanation of insurance, excess and card holds, and how to read rental terms before payment.

Insurance and excess
Insurance does not always mean every type of damage is covered with no cost to the renter. Review the excess and exclusions such as tyres, glass or off-road use, and understand how damage is recorded at pickup and return.
Refundable card holds
Some suppliers place a temporary hold on an approved payment card. Know the difference between a pre-authorisation and an actual charge, and ask how long release normally takes after the rental is closed.
Document the vehicle
Photograph the car from all sides at pickup and return, and keep the fuel receipt if the policy requires a specific return level. Clear evidence helps prevent disputes.
For current prices and availability from rental companies, compare rental terms as well as price.
